Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Whether you have two hours a week or two days a month — there's a role for you here.
Volunteering with WCF means becoming part of a community. You'll work alongside a dedicated team, meet people from all walks of life, and see — up close — the difference that consistent, compassionate support makes.
We invest in our volunteers. You'll receive full training, ongoing support and opportunities to develop real skills that go far beyond the role itself.
From mentoring and coaching to event management and communications — you'll build skills you can take anywhere.
Every volunteer receives role-specific training, a named supervisor and regular check-ins. You'll never be left to figure it out alone.
You'll be working directly with people whose lives are genuinely improved by the support they receive. That's not something you forget.
All roles are flexible and can be shaped around your availability. No experience is required for most positions — just enthusiasm and reliability.
Build a regular, trusting relationship with a young person aged 11–18. You'll meet weekly, help them set goals and work through challenges — anything from school stress to career questions. This is one of our most impactful roles and one of the most rewarding.
Support adults with CV writing, job applications and interview preparation. You might run a workshop group or work one-to-one. Particularly valuable if you have experience in recruitment, HR, management or any professional field you'd like to share.
Visit or call an isolated older adult on a regular basis. You'll provide companionship, a listening ear and a genuine human connection. Simple in concept, profound in impact — loneliness is one of the most serious health challenges facing our community.
Help us run community events, from our annual festival to weekly drop-in sessions. This is a flexible, ad-hoc role — ideal if your schedule changes week to week. You'll be part of the team that makes our public-facing work happen.
Run practical sessions on digital skills — email, internet, smartphones, online forms — for residents who need to build confidence with technology. Particularly valuable for supporting older residents and those new to the UK.
Help us tell our story and secure the funding that keeps our programmes running. Whether you have experience in marketing, bid writing, photography, social media or copywriting — there's a way to use your skills here.
Fill in the application form below. Tell us a bit about yourself, why you want to volunteer and which role interests you most.
A member of our volunteer team will get in touch for a relaxed, informal chat — not an interview — to understand what you're looking for.
Depending on the role, we'll carry out a DBS check and take up a reference. We'll guide you through the whole process — it's straightforward.
You'll complete a tailored induction and any role-specific training before starting. Your supervisor will be with you every step of the way.
Fill in the form and we'll be back in touch within five working days. There's no commitment required at this stage — just an expression of interest.
